William "Giant" Bradley (1787-1820)
William Bradley, born at Market Weighton on the 10th Febuary 1787, is still recorded as being the tallest man ever to live in Great Britain. The fourth son from a family of thirteen, his father was just five feet nine and his mother was of average height for a woman. Giant Bradley was born weighing fourteen pounds and progressed to weigh twenty seven stones by his 19th birthday. With boots measuring over fifteen inches long William Bradley grew to a record height of seven feet nine inches.
